Our story

Young people and adults told us that how teachers and tutors teach is very important. They told us that it is important that young people are treated with respect.

Some teachers and tutors used lessons to teach young people how to get on better with other people and how to behave respectfully. These adults involved young people in making rules and decisions within lessons. They also gave young people choices or free time when they had worked hard.

We say:

• Teachers and tutors in schools and colleges should be able to choose how to teach – and they should ask young people how they think things should work.
