  • Ridgeway School: a comprehensive community secondary school for 11-18 year-old students in Plymouth
  • Achievement Training: an independent training organisation providing work-based learning for young people in Plymouth.

Staff and students from these organisations worked with researchers from the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education and the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities between 2005 and 2007 to complete the ‘What about us?’ project.

This website is one of the project outcomes. It was prepared by:

  • Richard Byers:University of Cambridge Faculty of Education
  • Jill Davies:Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities
  • Ann Fergusson and Claire Marvin:‘What about us?’ research associates
  • Hazel Morgan and Lesley Dee:helped write some of the material.

The young people who did the research in their schools and colleges came up with most of the ideas on this website. At first, we wanted to work with young people with learning difficulties – but we met lots of young people meeting different challenges once the project got started.

We think lots of young people – including young people with learning difficulties, disabilities and/or special educational needs – can use the ideas on this website.
