Our story

Group of adults sat round a table discussing

Teachers, tutors and support staff told us that managers’ attitudes are important. What managers think – and how they act – can make a big difference.

Some managers wanted to make sure that all young people were safe and happy throughout the school or college day. They made sure that there were special places for young people to go. They made sure young people had someone to support them and to listen to them when they needed help. They gave teachers and tutors time to do their job well.

Young people need to be able to talk to managers to give them ideas to help them do their job better.

We say:

  • Managers in schools and colleges should listen to young people – and to teachers and tutors.
